Malcolm's Revenge is the third entry in the Legend of Kyrandia series and, like its predecessors, an adventure game focusing on inventory-based puzzles.

Developed by Westwood Studios and published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment in 1994, this game marked the final chapter of the Fables & Fiends series. Dive into the chronicle of Malcolm, the antagonist from the first game, as he embarks on a quest to clear his name and seek vengeance.

Retaining the user-friendly point-and-click interface from its predecessors, Malcolm’s Revenge simplifies interaction with the game world. Objects, environments, and characters can be effortlessly engaged with a simple click. The inventory system allows you to collect and use items to solve intricate puzzles.

However, this installment introduces a unique point-based system that rewards specific in-game actions with points, adding an extra layer of gameplay.

Notably, the game incorporates a dynamic personality-switching feature for the protagonist. Players can choose between three personalities – truthful, normal, and deceitful – each influencing the game’s puzzles and outcomes.

This ingenious twist adds depth to the classic adventure gameplay.

Malcolm’s Twisted Journey

Malcolm’s life was a turbulent one, shaped by two guiding consciences – the good Stewart and the malevolent Gunther. As he grew, Malcolm’s mischievous antics escalated, leading to a conflict between his two consciences.

Gunther eventually seized control, setting Malcolm on a path of trickery. His journey brought him to the Kyrandian court as the jester for King William and Queen Catherine. However, their tragic murder set the stage for Malcolm’s eventual downfall.

Wrongfully accused of regicide, Malcolm unleashed his wrath upon Kyrandia, only to be defeated by Brandon, William and Catherine’s son, and Kallak, the Mystic leader. Turned into stone, he languished in a junkyard until a fortuitous storm freed him, setting the stage for his quest for retribution.

Fueled by vengeance, Malcolm embarked on a journey filled with betrayal, enchantment, and moral choices. Along the way, he reconciled with his guiding conscience Stewart, faced off against pirates, ventured into Limbo, and ultimately returned to Kyrandia.

His mission? To clear his name, vindicate his innocence, and save the kingdom he once sought to destroy.

Everyone blamed the jester Malcolm for allegedly turning everyone to stone and killing the King and the Queen of Kyrandia. Their son Brandon eventually turned Malcolm himself into stone. However, a thunderbolt strikes the jester, liberating him from his predicament.

Now it’s his turn to tell the world his version of the truth, whether in his usual mischievous manner or by becoming a nicer person.
